Chinese asylum documents translation for an I-589 filed with the asylum office or presented in immigration court. Claims from mainland China rest on paper from the 公安局, the 计划生育 office, a hospital or a church, and the asylum officer or judge reads only the English. We translate each document as written, with a signed certification, and mark anything that cannot be read rather than filling it in.
Written for Chinese (Mandarin) Simplified asylum documents records
The documents a mainland asylum case rests on
Chinese claims usually rest on religion, family planning, political expression or ethnicity. Each produces its own paperwork, and most of it comes out of the 公安 system.
Police papers: 传唤证, 拘留通知书, 释放证明书
A 传唤证 or 传唤通知书 orders a person to appear at a 派出所. A 拘留通知书 tells the family that someone is being held, and a 行政处罚决定书 under the 治安管理处罚法 imposes administrative detention of up to fifteen days with no court involved, while a 刑事拘留 notice means a criminal case has been opened. A 释放证明书 records the date of release and names the 看守所 or 拘留所. The translation gives the law and article cited, the issuing office and each date exactly as printed, because the adjudicator lays them against the applicant's declaration.
Family planning records
A claim under the coercive population control clause of INA 101(a)(42) comes with a 独生子女父母光荣证, a 计划生育服务手册, a 节育手术证明 recording an 上环 or 结扎 procedure, a 社会抚养费征收决定书 with its receipt for an over-quota 超生 birth, or a hospital record of an 引产. The clinical terms matter: 上环 is the insertion of an IUD, 结扎 is tubal ligation or vasectomy, 引产 is induced labor and in this context means a late-term abortion. We translate each by its meaning and keep the Chinese in brackets.
Church and witness evidence
A 家庭教会 member holds little paper: a notice from the 民宗局 closing a meeting point, a 行政处罚决定书 citing the 宗教事务条例, a 取保候审决定书 releasing someone on bail pending investigation, a hospital 诊断证明书 for injuries, and 证明信 or 证人证言 letters from fellow believers, family or a 村委会, with ID copies and a red thumbprint beside each signature. We translate every letter in full, including the 年月日 date, the ID number and the seal, and describe the thumbprint, so the reader sees what was signed and by whom.
Who is asking for your Chinese (Mandarin) Simplified asylum documents translation?
The translation is the same. What changes is whether the recipient wants anything added to it.
USCIS asylum offices
USCIS asks for a complete English translation of every foreign-language document and a signed certification from the translator. No notarization is needed.
An immigration judge expects each exhibit translated in full and certified, filed with the original. Courts refuse summaries, so every page you file is translated whole.
Refugee claims in Canada accept a certified translation with the translator's affidavit. Order the certified translation and add notarization if your application guide asks for it.
Three things that save a day of back and forth on a Chinese (Mandarin) Simplified asylum documents.
01
Send every page, including the envelopes
Police reports, threat letters, medical reports and newspaper clippings each count. Postmarks and envelopes show when and where a letter was sent, so scan them too.
02
Keep handwritten pages readable
Letters and notes are often handwritten. Photograph each page flat in good light, and tell us any names or places that are hard to make out.
03
Give us the names as your application spells them
Your I-589 fixes the English spelling of your name and of each family member. Tell us that spelling so every document in the file matches.
Details and pricing
What is included in a Chinese (Mandarin) Simplified asylum documents translation
One price per page covers the translation and its certification. A page is up to 250 words, and the quote tells you the page count before you pay.
Everything on the asylum documents is translated, including stamps, seals and handwritten notes. Tell us the English spelling you use for each name when you order.
Does the translation need a certificate for immigration court?
Yes. 8 CFR 1003.33 requires any foreign-language document filed with the immigration court to come with an English translation and a signed certification that the translator is competent and the translation is complete and accurate, and the I-589 instructions require the same for the asylum office. Every document we translate carries that signed statement, one per document, so each exhibit stands on its own in the file.
My family photographed the documents in China and sent them over WeChat. Can you work from that?
Yes. Most of the 公安 and 计划生育 papers we translate for asylum reach us as phone photographs, since the originals stayed in China or were never returned. We translate what the image shows and mark a seal, a corner or a line that is cut off or blurred as illegible rather than guessing. If a clearer photo can be taken, send it before we start; a retake of one page costs nothing but time.
Will you translate my own written statement from Chinese?
Yes, and we translate it as written. Many applicants draft the 陈述 in Chinese and the lawyer shapes the English declaration from it, so the translation keeps your wording and order without tidying it. We also translate the finished English declaration back into Chinese so you can read exactly what you are signing before the interview or the hearing.
How much does a certified translation cost?
Certified translation is $25 per page, with a page counted as up to 250 words. Notarization, a mailed physical copy and an apostille are optional and priced separately.
How long does a certified translation take?
Standard turnaround starts at 24 hours and depends on the length and language of your documents. If you have a deadline, include it in your quote request.
