Hindi ID card translation to English for USCIS, a bank, a DMV, a school or an employer. We translate the Aadhaar card, the voter ID card, the ration card and the state domicile certificate, the identity papers that someone from Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh or Delhi is asked to produce in the US.
India has no single identity card. The one you were asked for depends on whether the reader wants your identity, your address or your household.
Aadhaar
The Aadhaar card from the UIDAI prints the twelve-digit number, name, date of birth, gender and address in English and in the state language, so a card from Lucknow or Patna is Hindi and English side by side. Early letters printed only the year of birth; the e-Aadhaar PDF and the PVC card print the full date and a QR code, and a masked Aadhaar hides the first eight digits. We translate the Hindi side and note which version of the card it is, because a reader checking a date of birth needs to know whether the card ever carried one.
Voter ID (EPIC)
The मतदाता पहचान पत्र from the Election Commission is the card an older applicant often has instead of Aadhaar. The laminated cards issued in the Hindi states through the 2000s are Hindi only, with the father's or husband's name, the age as on a given date rather than a date of birth, the assembly constituency and the part number. USCIS reads it as proof of a spouse's name or of residence at a date, so the translation writes the age exactly as printed with its reference date and does not convert it to a birth year.
Ration card
The राशन कार्ड from the state food department lists the head of the household and every member by name, age and relation, and is one of the few Indian papers that shows a family living at one address. It is almost always in Hindi, often handwritten, with a category such as अंत्योदय or प्राथमिकता printed on the cover. Families send it to USCIS as evidence of a relationship or of living together. We translate every member line, the category and the shop number, and each page with entries is a page.
Who is asking for your Hindi id card translation?
The translation is the same. What changes is whether the recipient wants anything added to it.
USCIS
USCIS asks for a complete English translation and a signed certification from the translator. No notarization is needed.
An ID card offered as proof of identity or date of birth is accepted with a certified translation. A few offices want it notarized as well, so check with your office before you order.
IRCC accepts a certified translation with the translator's affidavit. Order the certified translation and add notarization if your application guide asks for it.
Three things that save a day of back and forth on a Hindi id card.
01
Scan both sides
The issuing office, the expiry date and the address are usually on the back. Upload the front and the back in one order so the translation covers the whole card.
02
Give us the spelling you use in English
The translation shows the name as the card prints it and notes the spelling on your passport or green card. Say which at checkout so the two documents match.
03
A phone photo works if every character is readable
Lay the card on a plain surface, avoid glare on the hologram and take one picture per side with the whole card in frame.
Details and pricing
What is included in a Hindi id card translation
One price per page covers the translation and its certification. A page is up to 250 words, and the quote tells you the page count before you pay.
Everything on the id card is translated, including stamps, seals and handwritten notes. Tell us the English spelling you use for each name when you order.
Is an Aadhaar card accepted as proof of identity in the US?
It depends on the office. USCIS takes it as one piece of secondary evidence alongside others, a bank may take it for a non-resident account, and a DMV usually wants a passport instead. What we provide is a certified English rendering of the card so the officer can read it; what the officer does with it is their rule. Ask before you order if an office has given you a list of accepted documents.
The name on my Aadhaar is spelled differently from my passport. Can you fix it?
No, and you would not want us to. The translation shows the name exactly as the card prints it, in Hindi and in English, and a certified translation that silently changes a spelling is worthless to an officer. If both spellings refer to you, we add a translator's note saying how the Hindi name reads, and you explain the difference in your cover letter or with an affidavit.
Do you translate a PAN card or a domicile certificate?
Yes, where there is Hindi on it. The PAN card prints its headings in Hindi and English with the entries in English, so it rarely needs one. The state domicile certificate, निवास प्रमाण पत्र, from the tehsildar is in Hindi and comes up in student and family files. It is a single page with a seal and a serial number or a QR code, and we translate the text and describe the seal so the reader knows which office issued it.
How much does a certified translation cost?
Certified translation is $25 per page, with a page counted as up to 250 words. Notarization, a mailed physical copy and an apostille are optional and priced separately.
How long does a certified translation take?
Standard turnaround starts at 24 hours and depends on the length and language of your documents. If you have a deadline, include it in your quote request.
