Polish passport translation to English for a court, a bank, an employer, a school or an immigration file, and from English into Polish for a Polish consulate or wojewoda. We translate the data page of the paszport, the paszport tymczasowy, and every stamp, visa and handwritten note in the booklet.
The data page of a Polish passport prints each heading in Polish and English, so the question is not the headings but what sits under them and on the other pages.
Data page: wojewoda, PESEL and place of birth
A paszport is issued by the wojewoda of the holder's province, or by a Polish consul abroad, and the organ wydający line names that office in Polish. The PESEL line is labelled only by its acronym, which means nothing to a US clerk. The miejsce urodzenia line names a town or a village with its diacritics and, for people born abroad, the country. The translation renders the office, labels PESEL as the national identification number and keeps the town spelled as printed.
Stamps, visas and the pages USCIS looks at
A translated passport is usually needed for what is stamped in it: entry and exit stamps from Straż Graniczna, a visa, a child entered on a parent's older passport, or a note by a consul. USCIS asks for a translation of the whole booklet when the stamps prove a date of entry or time spent outside the US. We translate every stamp with its date and place and describe the ones that are too faint to read rather than guessing.
Paszport tymczasowy and the old booklets
A consulate can issue a paszport tymczasowy, a temporary passport, for a return journey or when the biometric one cannot be made in time. Older Poles still hold PRL-era passports issued through the Milicja Obywatelska and the booklet printed before the 2006 biometric design, and these carry Polish-only headings and handwritten entries. We translate those in full, including the issuing office, the extension stamps and any entry naming a child.
Who is asking for your Polish passport translation?
The translation is the same. What changes is whether the recipient wants anything added to it.
USCIS
USCIS asks for a complete English translation and a signed certification from the translator. No notarization is needed.
A foreign passport used as proof of identity is accepted with a certified translation of the data page. Digital delivery as a PDF is usually enough; ask for a hard copy if they want one.
A US passport sent abroad for a marriage, a residency permit or a property purchase often needs the translation notarized. Tell us the country in your order notes.
Three things that save a day of back and forth on a Polish passport.
01
Send the data page and any page with a stamp
The photo page carries the name, number and dates. Visa pages, entry stamps and an amendment page matter too when the recipient is tracing travel history, so include them if the checklist asks.
02
Give us the spelling you use in English
The translation keeps the name as the passport prints it and notes the romanized spelling you use elsewhere. Say which at checkout so the recipient can match the two.
03
Scan it flat with the machine-readable lines in frame
The two lines of characters at the foot of the photo page are copied exactly as printed. A crooked or cropped photo hides them and slows the translator down.
Details and pricing
What is included in a Polish passport translation
One price per page covers the translation and its certification. A page is up to 250 words, and the quote tells you the page count before you pay.
Everything on the passport is translated, including stamps, seals and handwritten notes. Tell us the English spelling you use for each name when you order.
Does USCIS need my Polish passport translated if the headings are already in English?
For the data page alone, usually not. The headings are bilingual and the names and dates read the same in both languages. USCIS does ask for a translation when it needs the rest of the booklet, the stamps, visas and notes, which are in Polish only, and some courts, banks and consulates ask for the whole passport as a matter of policy. If you are told to translate it, send clear photos of every page with anything on it.
How many pages will a passport count as?
A page is up to 250 words. The data page is one page. Stamp pages carry little text, so several of them fit into one page at $25, and an empty page costs nothing. Upload the photos and you see the count before you pay.
Can you translate a US passport into Polish for a Polish citizenship or passport application?
Yes, for the file itself, with a note on the rules. An application to confirm Polish citizenship, potwierdzenie posiadania obywatelstwa polskiego, goes to the wojewoda or a consulate, and foreign documents in it must be translated by a tłumacz przysięgły in Poland or by the consul. We hold no such appointment. Where a Polish bank, school or employer wants the passport in Polish, order it here and add notarization if they ask.
How much does a certified translation cost?
Certified translation is $25 per page, with a page counted as up to 250 words. Notarization, a mailed physical copy and an apostille are optional and priced separately.
How long does a certified translation take?
Standard turnaround starts at 24 hours and depends on the length and language of your documents. If you have a deadline, include it in your quote request.
