Ukrainian apostille translation to English of the апостиль issued in Ukraine together with the certificate, diploma or notarial act it is attached to, and translation into Ukrainian of a US apostille and its document for a Ukrainian registry, university or bank. The apostille is one more page on the order, translated field by field.
Which ministry stamped it, and what on it is in Ukrainian
Ukraine has issued apostilles since it joined the Hague Convention at the end of 2003. Which ministry stamps the document depends on who issued the document, and the stamp's headings are bilingual while its contents are not.
Which ministry issued yours
The Міністерство юстиції apostilles civil registry certificates, court decisions and notarial acts; the Міністерство освіти і науки apostilles diplomas, додатки and school certificates; the Міністерство закордонних справ takes the rest, including the МВС criminal record extract and medical certificates. Field 7 names the issuing ministry in Ukrainian only, and the translation gives it in English so a US reader can tell a Ministry of Justice apostille from an Education one.
The ten fields and the electronic register
The form is the convention's standard ten numbered fields, headed Apostille and Convention de La Haye du 5 octobre 1961 as every country prints it. Fields 2 to 4 give the signer of the underlying document, their capacity and the seal, and those entries are Ukrainian, often a registrar's or notary's name with a patronymic. Since 2015 each apostille has a number in the electronic register and can be checked online, and we carry the number and the verification line over so the recipient can look it up.
Apostille on the document, or on the translation
In Ukraine a translation can itself be notarized and then apostilled, and some countries ask for that second apostille. The United States does not. USCIS, courts and universities take the apostilled original with our certified English translation of both the document and the stamp, and no apostille on the translation. If you were advised to apostille a translation for the US, you can skip that step and the fee.
Who is asking for your Ukrainian apostille translation?
The translation is the same. What changes is whether the recipient wants anything added to it.
Registries and courts abroad
A civil registry, a court or a notary in another country reads the apostille as proof the US document is genuine, and wants the whole set translated into its language. Tell us the country in the order notes.
Consulates processing a citizenship, marriage or residency application accept a certified translation of the apostilled document. Add notarization at checkout if the checklist asks for it.
Three things that save a day of back and forth on a Ukrainian apostille.
01
Send the apostille with the document it certifies
An apostille is a page stapled or glued to another document. Upload both, since the recipient reads the apostille only as proof that the document under it is genuine.
02
Scan the apostille whole, including the seal
The ten numbered fields, the seal and the signature of the issuing officer are what a foreign registry checks. Keep the full page in frame, including any ribbon or embossed stamp.
03
Get the apostille before you order
The translation has to cover the apostille page too. Have it issued first and then upload the complete set, so nothing is missing from the translation.
Details and pricing
What is included in a Ukrainian apostille translation
One price per page covers the translation and its certification. A page is up to 250 words, and the quote tells you the page count before you pay.
Everything on the apostille is translated, including stamps, seals and handwritten notes. Tell us the English spelling you use for each name when you order.
Does USCIS want an apostille on my Ukrainian documents at all?
No. USCIS asks for the original or a copy with a complete certified English translation, and an apostille is neither required nor refused. Where one has been obtained for another purpose, we translate it with the document. Apostilles matter more in the other direction, when a US record is going to Ukraine, and for some US universities and state licensing boards that ask for them on diplomas.
I need a US document apostilled for Ukraine. What is the order of steps?
Apostille first, then translate. A state birth certificate or a notarized power of attorney goes to that state's Secretary of State for the apostille; a federal document goes to the US Department of State. Then we translate the document and the apostille into Ukrainian in one file. A Ukrainian registry, court or bank may want that translation certified by a notary in Ukraine, so ask them which form they take.
Can a Soviet-era certificate from the Ukrainian SSR be apostilled, and do you translate the apostille with it?
Yes, through the Ministry of Justice, if the register is held by a Ukrainian registry office; often the office issues a modern duplicate and apostilles that instead. A certificate issued by the occupation authorities in Crimea or the Donbas cannot be apostilled by Ukraine. We translate the apostille page and the certificate together, from Russian or Ukrainian as the certificate was written.
How much does a certified translation cost?
Certified translation is $25 per page, with a page counted as up to 250 words. Notarization, a mailed physical copy and an apostille are optional and priced separately.
How long does a certified translation take?
Standard turnaround starts at 24 hours and depends on the length and language of your documents. If you have a deadline, include it in your quote request.
