Polish tax return translation of a PIT-37, PIT-36, PIT-28 or the PIT-11 your employer issued, for the IRS, a US mortgage lender, a family court, a university or USCIS, and into Polish of a Form 1040 for the Urząd Skarbowy. We translate each form field by field, with the Polish field names kept beside the English.
Poland's personal income tax forms all start with PIT, and a US reader needs to know which one is the return and which one is the information slip.
PIT-37, PIT-36, PIT-28 and PIT-38
PIT-37 is the annual return of an employee or pensioner whose tax was withheld by a płatnik. PIT-36 covers a sole trader on the tax scale or anyone with foreign income, PIT-36L the flat-rate podatek liniowy, PIT-28 the ryczałt on recorded revenue and PIT-38 capital gains. The fields matter: przychód is gross revenue, koszty uzyskania przychodu the deductible costs, dochód the income after costs, podstawa obliczenia podatku the taxable base, and the last line is either nadpłata, a refund, or do zapłaty, a balance due. Tax fields are rounded to whole złoty and written with a decimal comma.
PIT-11, PIT-40A and the UPO
PIT-11 is the slip an employer sends by the end of February, the closest thing to a W-2, listing przychód, koszty, zaliczki na podatek and składki ZUS. ZUS sends pensioners a PIT-40A or PIT-11A, which a Polish retiree living in the US needs when reporting the emerytura on a US return. Returns are filed through Twój e-PIT or e-Deklaracje, so proof of filing is the UPO, the Urzędowe Poświadczenie Odbioru, with its 32-character reference. When a lender asks whether the return was actually filed, the UPO is the page that answers.
Zaświadczenie o dochodach and the other direction
If the recipient wants one page rather than the full return, the Urząd Skarbowy issues a zaświadczenie o wysokości dochodu on request, and a zaświadczenie o niezaleganiu w podatkach for anyone who has to show they owe nothing. For a US return claiming the foreign tax credit, the podatek należny line on the PIT and that zaświadczenie give the Polish tax paid. The reverse case is just as common: a Polish resident with US wages files PIT-36 with the załącznik PIT/ZG and attaches a Polish translation of the Form 1040 or W-2.
Who is asking for your Polish tax return translation?
The translation is the same. What changes is whether the recipient wants anything added to it.
USCIS and the National Visa Center
Sponsors filing an affidavit of support, and applicants proving income, submit tax returns with a complete English translation and a signed certification. No notarization is needed.
IRCC accepts a certified translation with the translator's affidavit. Order the certified translation and add notarization if your application guide asks for it.
A mortgage lender or a tax office assessing foreign income accepts a certified translation of the return and its schedules. Ask whether they want a hard copy and add it at checkout.
Three things that save a day of back and forth on a Polish tax return.
01
Send the filed return, not the draft
The recipient wants the version the tax office accepted, with its filing stamp, receipt number or online confirmation. Include the confirmation page if your return was filed electronically.
02
Include every schedule and attachment
The income summary on the first page refers to schedules behind it. A consulate or a lender reading the total will look for the pages that support it.
03
Give us the taxpayer name as the passport spells it
Taxpayer numbers, amounts and the currency are copied exactly as printed. Tell us the English spelling of each name on the return so it matches the rest of your file.
Details and pricing
What is included in a Polish tax return translation
One price per page covers the translation and its certification. A page is up to 250 words, and the quote tells you the page count before you pay.
Everything on the tax return is translated, including stamps, seals and handwritten notes. Tell us the English spelling you use for each name when you order.
Which Polish forms does a US mortgage lender want for foreign income?
Most ask for the last two annual returns, so two PIT-37 or PIT-36 forms with their UPO receipts, and the PIT-11 slips behind them. A self-employed borrower adds the PIT-36 or PIT-28 and a zaświadczenie o niezaleganiu. A PIT-37 is usually a few pages, a PIT-36 with its załączniki more. Send the PDFs from Twój e-PIT rather than photos of printouts; the form boxes come through clean and the UPO is attached to the same file.
Does the IRS need a certified translation of my Polish PIT?
When the IRS asks for a foreign-language document, in an audit or with a Form 1116 claim, it asks for an English translation with it. Our certification states who translated the form and that it is complete, which is what an examiner wants to see. The podatek należny line is the one a Form 1116 claim turns on, and the translation labels it as tax due under Polish law so it is not mistaken for tax withheld.
Do you translate US tax returns into Polish?
Yes. A Form 1040 goes into Polish for the Urząd Skarbowy when a Polish resident proves tax paid in the US under the PIT/ZG rules, or for a sąd rodzinny setting alimenty on a parent earning in dollars. The Urząd Skarbowy can ask for a tłumacz przysięgły; a lawyer preparing an alimony case usually works from our certified translation and has only the pages the court needs sworn. We can notarize if that helps.
How much does a certified translation cost?
Certified translation is $25 per page, with a page counted as up to 250 words. Notarization, a mailed physical copy and an apostille are optional and priced separately.
How long does a certified translation take?
Standard turnaround starts at 24 hours and depends on the length and language of your documents. If you have a deadline, include it in your quote request.
