Chinese background check translation for a US employer, a screening firm, a landlord, a state licensing board or a security clearance that has to verify years spent in mainland China. We translate the 离职证明 from each employer, the 社保缴费记录 that fixes the dates, the 征信报告 from the People's Bank of China and the 户口 or 居住证 pages that give addresses, with a signed certification.

Proving a Chinese work history to a US screener
A screening firm that phones a Chinese company's switchboard gets nowhere, and a 派出所 letter covers only crime. The documents below are what the candidate can produce, and each one answers a different question on the form.
离职证明 and 劳动合同
The 劳动合同法 obliges an employer to issue a 离职证明 when a contract ends, stamped with the 公章, giving the position, the dates and sometimes the reason. The letter is short, and the 劳动合同 behind it gives the 工作内容, the 合同期限 and the pay. Many people also hold a 在职证明 for a current job, written for a visa. We translate each letter with the stamped company name, leave the dates in the order written, and flag a letter that carries only a 人事章 rather than the 公章, since screeners ask.
社保缴费记录: the dates no letter can fake
Every employer pays social insurance monthly under the worker's 身份证 number, and the 社保局 or the 12333 app prints a 参保缴费证明 that lists each month, the 缴费单位 and the 缴费基数. It is the closest thing China has to a verified employment history, and a gap or a change of 缴费单位 shows exactly when a job began and ended. 公积金 housing fund records do the same. A screener who is sent the 社保 record alongside the 离职证明 can match them line by line, and our translation keeps the table layout so it can.
Credit and address: 征信报告 and the 居住证
The 中国人民银行征信中心 issues a 个人信用报告 to the person, online or at a branch terminal, listing loans, credit cards, 逾期 late records and the enquiries made. A US landlord or lender cannot pull a Chinese file, so a translated report is what they get. Addresses come from the 户口簿 pages, the 居住证 issued to people living outside their 户籍 city, and the 房屋租赁合同. The report's 婚姻状况 and 学历 fields are self-reported, and the translation says so.
Who is asking for your Chinese (Mandarin) Simplified background check translation?
The translation is the same. What changes is whether the recipient wants anything added to it.
USCIS and the National Visa Center
Green card and visa applications ask for police and court records with a complete English translation and a signed certification. No notarization is needed.
An employer or a professional board checking your record from abroad accepts a certified translation they can read next to the original. Ask whether they want a hard copy.
An FBI or state background check going to another country usually needs an apostille and a translation into that country's language, sometimes notarized.
Three things that save a day of back and forth on a Chinese (Mandarin) Simplified background check.
01
Get the check issued first, then order the translation
Most background checks are valid for a few months. Have it issued, then upload it, so the translation and the original are current together.
02
Send the report the checklist names
A police certificate, a court record and an FBI identity history summary are different documents. Read the employer or consulate checklist and send the one it asks for.
03
Keep the verification code in the scan
Online reports carry a QR code or a reference number that the recipient uses to confirm the result. Scan the whole page so it is translated with the rest.
Details and pricing
What is included in a Chinese (Mandarin) Simplified background check translation
One price per page covers the translation and its certification. A page is up to 250 words, and the quote tells you the page count before you pay.
Everything on the background check is translated, including stamps, seals and handwritten notes. Tell us the English spelling you use for each name when you order.
My old employer in China has closed. How do I prove I worked there?
With the records that outlive the company. The 社保 contribution record still lists the months the firm paid in for you, and a printout from the 国家企业信用信息公示系统 shows the company's registration and the date it was 注销, deregistered. Add your 劳动合同 and any payslips you kept. We translate the set together so a screener can see the job and the company's closure on the same dates.
Will a US employer accept the 无犯罪记录证明 as the criminal part of the check?
Usually yes, as the only record available, since no US firm can query the Chinese police. The 派出所 letter and the notarial version are described on our criminal record page. For a background check the screener may also ask about 行政处罚, and a candidate with none says so; there is no Chinese document that proves the absence of administrative penalties nationwide.
A Chinese company is running a 背景调查 on me. What goes into Chinese?
Returnees and foreign hires are checked by the company's 第三方背调 vendor, which asks for US employment letters, W-2s or pay stubs, a diploma and sometimes an FBI check, all in Chinese. We translate them, keep the employer names in English with a Chinese gloss, and include the apostille if the document was apostilled. The vendor may call your US references directly; that part needs no translation.
How much does a certified translation cost?
Certified translation is $25 per page, with a page counted as up to 250 words. Notarization, a mailed physical copy and an apostille are optional and priced separately.
How long does a certified translation take?
Standard turnaround starts at 24 hours and depends on the length and language of your documents. If you have a deadline, include it in your quote request.
