Vietnamese background check translation for a US employer, a screening firm, a licensing board or a security clearance that has to account for years lived or worked in Vietnam. We translate the sơ yếu lý lịch, the giấy xác nhận công tác, the sổ bảo hiểm xã hội record, the giấy xác nhận cư trú and the CIC credit report, with a signed certification.
A screener cannot call a Vietnamese employer's switchboard and expect a personnel office to confirm dates. These are the papers the candidate can obtain instead, and what each one proves.
Sơ yếu lý lịch: the certified life history
Every Vietnamese job application starts with a sơ yếu lý lịch, a printed form the applicant fills in by hand: parents and siblings with their jobs, thành phần gia đình, ngày vào Đoàn and ngày vào Đảng if any, and a quá trình hoạt động của bản thân listing each school and employer by date. The applicant signs at the UBND phường, which certifies the signature with a red seal and a chứng thực number. A US screener reads it as the candidate's own account, and the translation says the ward certified the signature, not the facts.
Dates that can be checked: the BHXH record
Every employer pays bảo hiểm xã hội each month under the worker's số sổ BHXH, and the quá trình tham gia BHXH lists each employer, the chức danh, the salary used for contributions and the months paid. It is visible in the VssID app and can be printed and sealed at a local BHXH office. A gap in the record marks when a job ended, and a screener who sets it beside the giấy xác nhận công tác or the quyết định nghỉ việc from each company can match them month by month. We keep the table in the same order.
Address and credit: CT07 and the CIC report
Address history comes from the Công an phường as a giấy xác nhận thông tin về cư trú, form CT07, which lists the registered thường trú and tạm trú addresses with dates. Credit comes from the CIC, the Trung tâm Thông tin tín dụng Quốc gia Việt Nam under the State Bank, which issues a báo cáo tín dụng cá nhân through its app listing each loan, the bank, the nhóm nợ from 1 to 5 and any nợ xấu. A US landlord or lender cannot pull it, so the translated report is what they see, and nhóm nợ is translated as debt group with the number kept.
Who is asking for your Vietnamese background check translation?
The translation is the same. What changes is whether the recipient wants anything added to it.
USCIS and the National Visa Center
Green card and visa applications ask for police and court records with a complete English translation and a signed certification. No notarization is needed.
An employer or a professional board checking your record from abroad accepts a certified translation they can read next to the original. Ask whether they want a hard copy.
An FBI or state background check going to another country usually needs an apostille and a translation into that country's language, sometimes notarized.
Three things that save a day of back and forth on a Vietnamese background check.
01
Get the check issued first, then order the translation
Most background checks are valid for a few months. Have it issued, then upload it, so the translation and the original are current together.
02
Send the report the checklist names
A police certificate, a court record and an FBI identity history summary are different documents. Read the employer or consulate checklist and send the one it asks for.
03
Keep the verification code in the scan
Online reports carry a QR code or a reference number that the recipient uses to confirm the result. Scan the whole page so it is translated with the rest.
Details and pricing
What is included in a Vietnamese background check translation
One price per page covers the translation and its certification. A page is up to 250 words, and the quote tells you the page count before you pay.
Everything on the background check is translated, including stamps, seals and handwritten notes. Tell us the English spelling you use for each name when you order.
No. The Phiếu lý lịch tư pháp, Vietnam's judicial record certificate, has its own page, with the difference between số 1 and số 2 explained there. For a background check the screener usually asks for số 2 alongside the employment papers above, and we translate them as one order so the name and date of birth are consistent across every document.
My former employer in Vietnam no longer exists. How do I prove I worked there?
The BHXH contribution record outlives the company: it shows the employer's name and tax code for every month contributed, even after the company was dissolved. Add the hợp đồng lao động and any quyết định or bảng lương you kept, and a xác nhận from a former manager with chứng thực of their signature at a UBND. We translate what you have, and the translation claims no more than the papers show.
I did military service in Vietnam. What do I send for a US security clearance?
The SF-86 asks about service in a foreign military, and the investigator will want dates and the unit. The papers are the quyết định xuất ngũ, the discharge decision from your unit, and any giấy chứng nhận showing you completed nghĩa vụ quân sự. We translate the unit designation, rank and dates exactly as written and do not guess at an English equivalent for a Vietnamese rank; the Vietnamese term stays beside it.
How much does a certified translation cost?
Certified translation is $25 per page, with a page counted as up to 250 words. Notarization, a mailed physical copy and an apostille are optional and priced separately.
How long does a certified translation take?
Standard turnaround starts at 24 hours and depends on the length and language of your documents. If you have a deadline, include it in your quote request.
