Korean vaccination record translation for a school, a university health service, a civil surgeon completing Form I-693 or an employer: the 예방접종증명서 from the 질병관리청, the paper 아기수첩 booklet from a 보건소 or a pediatric clinic, and a clinic's 접종확인서, translated into certified English dose by dose.
Korea registers childhood vaccinations centrally, so most people can print a certificate, but older doses and doses given abroad live only on paper.
예방접종증명서 from the 질병관리청
Doses given at a 보건소 or a participating clinic go into the national 예방접종통합관리시스템, and the 예방접종도우미 site or 정부24 prints a 예방접종증명서 listing each vaccine, dose number, date and clinic. An English version is available; if it covers everything, use it and skip the translation. A dose given before the register existed, by a clinic that never entered it, or abroad will be missing, and then the paper record is what you translate.
The 아기수첩 and the Korean schedule names
Parents keep the 영유아 건강검진 및 예방접종 수첩 handed out at birth. Its pages use the national schedule's names: BCG, B형간염, DTaP, IPV, Hib, 폐렴구균, 수두, MMR, A형간염 and 일본뇌염, Japanese encephalitis, which is on the Korean schedule and not the US one. Combination shots often appear by brand, such as 펜탁심 or 테트락심. The translation gives the US name, keeps the Korean in brackets and carries the manufacturer and lot number where the nurse wrote them.
BCG and the tuberculosis question
Korean children get BCG in the first weeks of life, so a Korean adult often has the scar and may react to a tuberculin skin test. A school or employer health office that still uses the skin test wants the BCG date in writing before it reads the result. We translate the BCG line with its date and the 피내용 or 경피용 method as written, since the method is the part a nurse is most likely to ask about.
Who is asking for your Korean vaccination record translation?
The translation is the same. What changes is whether the recipient wants anything added to it.
USCIS
USCIS asks for a complete English translation and a signed certification from the translator. No notarization is needed.
Most ask for a certified translation they can read next to the original. Digital delivery as a PDF is usually enough; ask for a hard copy if they want one.
Three things that save a day of back and forth on a Korean vaccination record.
01
Photograph each page flat and in daylight
Vaccination cards are small and often handwritten. A flat, well-lit photo of every page, including the cover, lets the translator read each date and lot number.
02
Tell us whose record it is
Children's cards often carry a nickname or no surname. Give us the full name as it appears on the passport so the translation matches the rest of the file.
03
Leave vaccine names and lot numbers to us
Trade names, lot numbers and stamps are copied exactly as written, and the headings around them are translated, so a clinic or school can read the schedule without guessing.
Details and pricing
What is included in a Korean vaccination record translation
One price per page covers the translation and its certification. A page is up to 250 words, and the quote tells you the page count before you pay.
Everything on the vaccination record is translated, including stamps, seals and handwritten notes. Tell us the English spelling you use for each name when you order.
The 예방접종도우미 site prints in English. Do I still need a translation?
Only for what it does not cover. The English certificate is accepted on its own by most US schools and clinics. Doses from before registration, from a private clinic that never entered them, from military service or from another country appear only in the booklet or in a clinic's 접종확인서, and those are what we translate and certify.
Can you translate a 코로나19 예방접종증명서?
Yes. The COVID-19 certificate from the 질병관리청, or the paper 접종 내역 from a clinic, lists the vaccine as 화이자, 모더나, 아스트라제네카 or 얀센, the dose number and date and the 접종기관. We translate the vaccine names to the US product names and keep the Korean. Few US recipients still ask for it, so check before you order.
I am moving to Korea with children. Do you translate US records into Korean?
Yes. An 어린이집, a 유치원 or an elementary school in Korea asks for the child's vaccination history, and a 보건소 can enter foreign doses into the Korean register once it has a record it can read. We translate the US immunization record into Korean with the Korean vaccine names, and can notarize it if the school asks.
How much does a certified translation cost?
Certified translation is $25 per page, with a page counted as up to 250 words. Notarization, a mailed physical copy and an apostille are optional and priced separately.
How long does a certified translation take?
Standard turnaround starts at 24 hours and depends on the length and language of your documents. If you have a deadline, include it in your quote request.
