Ukrainian affidavit translation to English for USCIS, an asylum office, a family court or a school, and of US affidavits into Ukrainian for a notary, a court or a consulate in Ukraine. Ukraine has no affidavit as such; the equivalent is a заява whose signature a notary has certified, and we translate it so a US reader understands exactly what the notary did and did not attest.
The заява is not an affidavit, and the translation has to say so
A Ukrainian notary certifies that the person signed the statement in front of them. The notary does not swear the signer in and does not vouch for the contents, and a US recipient should read the document with that in mind.
What the notarial endorsement says
Below the statement the notary writes an endorsement certifying the authenticity of the signature, names the signer by passport, gives the entry number in the notarial register and the fee, and stamps it. We translate the endorsement in full and render it as a certification of signature, not as a jurat or an oath, because a US court distinguishes the two. If the recipient needs a sworn statement, it may be better to sign a US-form affidavit before a US notary and have us translate the Ukrainian evidence behind it.
Parental consent for a child to travel
The most common заява we see is the згода на виїзд дитини за кордон, the consent of one parent for a child to leave Ukraine with the other parent or a relative, with the destination, the dates and the escort named. Families arriving under Uniting for Ukraine with a child escorted by a grandparent or an aunt have been asked for it in English, and schools and pediatricians ask for the same document when a child is enrolled by someone other than a parent.
Statements as secondary evidence for USCIS
When a birth or marriage record is in occupied territory and the registry cannot issue a duplicate, USCIS accepts statements from two people who know the facts first hand. Relatives in Ukraine write these as a заява before a notary, giving their own birth details, how they know the facts and the event itself. We translate each statement with its endorsement, and the registry's letter saying the record is unavailable, as one set.
Who is asking for your Ukrainian affidavit translation?
The translation is the same. What changes is whether the recipient wants anything added to it.
USCIS
Affidavits standing in for a missing birth or marriage record are accepted with a complete English translation and a signed certification from the translator. No notarization is needed.
A court admits a translated affidavit with the translator's signed certification, and many ask for it notarized. Add notarization at checkout if the clerk asks for it.
Three things that save a day of back and forth on a Ukrainian affidavit.
01
Send the signed and notarized version
An affidavit is the sworn statement plus the notary block, stamp and seal. Upload the executed copy, with every exhibit it refers to, not the draft.
02
Give us the names as the passport spells them
The affiant, the notary and anyone named in the statement keep their names as written, with your English spelling noted, so the recipient can match the affidavit to the rest of the file.
03
Tell us where it is going
A court, USCIS and a foreign registry each want the certification handled differently. Say which in the order notes and we match the format.
Details and pricing
What is included in a Ukrainian affidavit translation
One price per page covers the translation and its certification. A page is up to 250 words, and the quote tells you the page count before you pay.
Everything on the affidavit is translated, including stamps, seals and handwritten notes. Tell us the English spelling you use for each name when you order.
Can you translate a witness statement for my asylum case?
Yes. A statement from a neighbour, a colleague or a relative in Ukraine describing what happened to you is translated in full, in the writer's own voice, with any notarial endorsement, date and place. We do not tidy the wording, because the asylum officer or the immigration judge is reading it as the witness's testimony. The translator's certification is attached to each statement.
I need a US affidavit in Ukrainian for a notary or a court in Ukraine. Will it be accepted?
We translate the affidavit into Ukrainian and certify it, and for a Ukrainian authority the US original usually needs an apostille from the Secretary of State of the state where it was notarized. Ukrainian notaries and courts often want the translation itself certified by a notary in Ukraine, which we cannot do from the US. An affidavit of single status for a marriage at a ДРАЦС office goes the same way.
Does a заява signed in Russian or in occupied territory count?
A statement in Russian is translated under its own language and labelled as such; the language does not change its weight. A заява certified by a notary appointed by the occupation authorities is not a Ukrainian notarial act, and USCIS will see that from the stamp. If the signer can reach a Ukrainian notary, or a Ukrainian consulate abroad, a fresh statement avoids the question.
How much does a certified translation cost?
Certified translation is $25 per page, with a page counted as up to 250 words. Notarization, a mailed physical copy and an apostille are optional and priced separately.
How long does a certified translation take?
Standard turnaround starts at 24 hours and depends on the length and language of your documents. If you have a deadline, include it in your quote request.
