Written for Arabic financial statement records

The four statements, the auditor and the zakat line

Arabic financial statements follow IFRS or a national standard built on it, so the structure is familiar to a US reader. The items with no US counterpart are what need care.

Standards and who signed

Egyptian companies report under معايير المحاسبة المصرية, the Egyptian Accounting Standards, and the auditor signs as مراقب الحسابات with a Ministry of Finance register number. Saudi companies apply IFRS as endorsed by SOCPA, and Emirati and Jordanian ones apply IFRS directly. The translation names the standard as the report does and carries the auditor's license number, since an immigration officer or lender reads the signature block before the numbers. The headings are قائمة المركز المالي, قائمة الدخل, قائمة التغيرات في حقوق الملكية and قائمة التدفقات النقدية, and we keep them in that order.

Zakat, end-of-service and Islamic finance

A Saudi or Gulf balance sheet carries lines a US accountant has never seen: مخصص الزكاة, the zakat provision, because a Saudi-owned company pays zakat instead of income tax, and مكافأة نهاية الخدمة, the end-of-service gratuity every Gulf employer owes its staff by law. Financing shows as مرابحة or إجارة with أرباح, profit, in place of interest. We translate each as the Arabic term with a short English gloss in brackets rather than forcing it into a US line item, so the figures tie to the original.

Units and the fiscal year

Figures are usually stated in thousands, with the unit given once in a heading like بآلاف الجنيهات المصرية; the translation keeps the unit on every page so a column is not read as a thousand times too small. Comparative columns are headed by year, and negative figures sit in brackets as in US accounts. Egyptian government-linked companies often close the year on 30 June, and a Saudi company may state a Hijri year end, which we give with its Gregorian date.

Who is asking for your Arabic financial statement translation?

The translation is the same. What changes is whether the recipient wants anything added to it.

Banks and lenders

A lender assessing a business loan or a foreign buyer's finances accepts a certified translation of the audited statements. Send the complete set so the figures can be checked against the notes.

Immigration investor programs

EB-5 and E-2 petitions document the source of funds with financial statements. USCIS asks for a complete English translation and a signed certification from the translator.

Courts and bankruptcy trustees

A trustee or a court reviewing assets held abroad wants the statements translated in full and certified. Add notarization if the court asks for it.

Before you upload

Three things that save a day of back and forth on a Arabic financial statement.

01

Send the statements with their notes

The balance sheet, the income statement and the cash flow statement are read with the notes that explain them. Upload the full report, including the auditor's letter, so nothing is cited that the translation lacks.

02

Keep the tables as tables

A clean PDF, or the spreadsheet the report was made from, lets the translator keep each column where it is. Photos of printed tables are slower and easier to misread.

03

Tell us the audience

A bank reads a statement differently from a tax office or a court. Say in the order notes who will receive it so the accounting terms fit that reader.

Arabic Financial Statement FAQ

Most questions about pricing and turnaround can be answered faster by requesting a quote.

Request a Quote

Which pages does an E-2 or L-1 petition need?
Usually the auditor's report, the four statements and the notes on share capital, related parties and revenue, plus the السجل التجاري extract and the البطاقة الضريبية in Egypt to show the company exists. Nationals of Egypt, Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia, Bahrain and Oman can use the E-2 treaty; Saudi and Emirati investors cannot, and usually file L-1 or EB-5 instead. We translate what the lawyer lists at $25 per page.
Can I send the statements without the notes?
You can, and for a bank that only wants the balance sheet and income statement that is enough. For an immigration file the notes carry the share register, the owner's capital contribution and the related-party loans an officer uses to trace the money, so leaving them out invites a request for evidence. Send everything and tell us which pages to leave; the quote shows the count before you pay.
Our US company is opening in Riyadh or Cairo. Will the accounts need Arabic?
Yes. A US parent opening a branch in Saudi Arabia or Egypt, bidding on a government tender or filing with a commercial court is usually asked for Arabic statements. Some regulators and most banks accept English, so ask which filing needs Arabic before ordering. We translate into Arabic, keep the US GAAP line items with their English names in brackets, and can notarize the translation.
How much does a certified translation cost?
Certified translation is $25 per page, with a page counted as up to 250 words. Notarization, a mailed physical copy and an apostille are optional and priced separately.
How long does a certified translation take?
Standard turnaround starts at 24 hours and depends on the length and language of your documents. If you have a deadline, include it in your quote request.
