Spanish financial statement translation for an E-2 or L-1 petition, an EB-5 source of funds file, a US lender, an investor or a court. We translate the Mexican estados financieros, the Spanish cuentas anuales and the Colombian estados financieros bajo NIIF, with the auditor's dictamen and the notas, certified and signed.
Three accounting frameworks, one English set of statements
Companies in Spanish-speaking countries report under different national standards, and the statement titles and line items follow the framework, not the dictionary.
Mexico: NIF and the dictamen
A Mexican company reports under the Normas de Información Financiera from the CINIF: an estado de situación financiera, still called the balance general by most accountants, an estado de resultados, an estado de cambios en el capital contable and an estado de flujos de efectivo. The statements are signed by a contador público with a cédula profesional number, and a dictamen fiscal from an auditor is attached when the SAT requires one. Lines such as PTU por pagar, IVA acreditable and aportaciones para futuros aumentos de capital have no US line item, so they are translated literally with the Spanish kept.
Spain: cuentas anuales from the Registro Mercantil
A Spanish company files cuentas anuales each year with the Registro Mercantil under the Plan General de Contabilidad: balance, cuenta de pérdidas y ganancias, estado de cambios en el patrimonio neto, estado de flujos de efectivo and the memoria, which is the notes. Small companies file the abreviado or PYME model with fewer lines. The copy you get back from the registry carries a deposit stamp and a certificación of the shareholders' approval, and we translate those too, because they prove the statements are the filed ones.
Figures in thousands and the auditor's opinion
A header reading cifras en miles de pesos or en miles de euros changes every number on the page, and it is translated and placed where it sits so no reader takes thousands for units. Colombian and Argentine statements under NIIF use IFRS terms that have a fixed English counterpart, and the translator uses it. The auditor's informe or dictamen is translated word for word, including whether the opinion is sin salvedades, con salvedades or desfavorable, since an immigration officer or a lender reads that paragraph first.
Who is asking for your Spanish financial statement translation?
The translation is the same. What changes is whether the recipient wants anything added to it.
Banks and lenders
A lender assessing a business loan or a foreign buyer's finances accepts a certified translation of the audited statements. Send the complete set so the figures can be checked against the notes.
EB-5 and E-2 petitions document the source of funds with financial statements. USCIS asks for a complete English translation and a signed certification from the translator.
Three things that save a day of back and forth on a Spanish financial statement.
01
Send the statements with their notes
The balance sheet, the income statement and the cash flow statement are read with the notes that explain them. Upload the full report, including the auditor's letter, so nothing is cited that the translation lacks.
02
Keep the tables as tables
A clean PDF, or the spreadsheet the report was made from, lets the translator keep each column where it is. Photos of printed tables are slower and easier to misread.
03
Tell us the audience
A bank reads a statement differently from a tax office or a court. Say in the order notes who will receive it so the accounting terms fit that reader.
Details and pricing
What is included in a Spanish financial statement translation
One price per page covers the translation and its certification. A page is up to 250 words, and the quote tells you the page count before you pay.
Everything on the financial statement is translated, including stamps, seals and handwritten notes. Tell us the English spelling you use for each name when you order.
Which statements does an E-2 or L-1 petition need in English?
Usually the last one to three years of the foreign company's statements, with the auditor's report and the notes, plus whatever the attorney lists for the business plan. Every page in Spanish needs a certified translation. A full set with notes runs many pages, and each page of up to 250 words is $25, so send the statements the attorney named rather than the whole binder.
Do you translate the balance sheet line by line or summarize it?
Line by line. The certification states the translation is complete, and a summarized balance sheet is not. Every row, subtotal, note reference and footnote appears in the English copy in the same order as the original, and the tables are laid out so the figures line up with their captions. Nothing is rounded or converted into dollars.
Can you translate US financial statements into Spanish for a Mexican subsidiary or a bank abroad?
Yes. A Mexican subsidiary consolidating with a US parent, a Spanish bank underwriting a loan or a Colombian tender committee may ask for US GAAP statements in Spanish. The translator uses the terminology of the country receiving it, since the same line is capital contable in Mexico and patrimonio neto in Spain. Tell us the country and the reader at checkout.
How much does a certified translation cost?
Certified translation is $25 per page, with a page counted as up to 250 words. Notarization, a mailed physical copy and an apostille are optional and priced separately.
How long does a certified translation take?
Standard turnaround starts at 24 hours and depends on the length and language of your documents. If you have a deadline, include it in your quote request.
