Korean financial statement translation for an E-2 treaty investor or L-1 petition, an EB-5 source of funds, a US bank or a buyer doing due diligence: the 재무상태표, 손익계산서, 현금흐름표 and 주석 of a Korean 주식회사, with the 감사보고서 and the 국세청 표준재무제표증명, translated into certified English.
Korean statements follow a fixed vocabulary and a fixed order, and most of the trouble is in the units and the headings rather than the numbers.
Which set of statements you hold
Listed companies report under K-IFRS and file on DART, the 금융감독원 disclosure system; most private companies report under the 일반기업회계기준. An audited company carries a 감사보고서 from a 회계법인 with its 감사의견: 적정, 한정, 부적정 or 의견거절. A small company often has no audit at all, and the 표준재무제표증명 printed from 홈택스 with the 세무서 seal is what a lender or a visa officer accepts as the official set. We translate the audit opinion and the 세무서 certification block together with the statements.
단위: 천원, and other headings that change the number
The top of each statement says 단위: 원 or 단위: 천원, thousands of won, and the columns are 당기 and 전기, current and prior year, or 제25기, the 25th fiscal year since incorporation. The 재무상태표 was called the 대차대조표 before the 2011 standards, and older filings still use that name. The translation keeps the unit line at the top of every page, labels the year columns with the actual year-end dates and uses the standard English captions: 유동자산 current assets, 매출액 revenue, 판매비와관리비 selling and administrative expenses, 영업이익 operating income, 당기순이익 net income.
The papers that travel with the statements
A US petition rarely wants the statements alone. The 사업자등록증 from the 세무서 gives the business registration number and the representative; the 법인등기부등본 from the 등기소 gives the capital, the directors and the registered office; the 주주명부 gives who holds the shares, which is what an E-2 examiner reads first. We translate the set together so the names, the 법인등록번호 and the share counts agree across every document.
Who is asking for your Korean financial statement translation?
The translation is the same. What changes is whether the recipient wants anything added to it.
Banks and lenders
A lender assessing a business loan or a foreign buyer's finances accepts a certified translation of the audited statements. Send the complete set so the figures can be checked against the notes.
EB-5 and E-2 petitions document the source of funds with financial statements. USCIS asks for a complete English translation and a signed certification from the translator.
Three things that save a day of back and forth on a Korean financial statement.
01
Send the statements with their notes
The balance sheet, the income statement and the cash flow statement are read with the notes that explain them. Upload the full report, including the auditor's letter, so nothing is cited that the translation lacks.
02
Keep the tables as tables
A clean PDF, or the spreadsheet the report was made from, lets the translator keep each column where it is. Photos of printed tables are slower and easier to misread.
03
Tell us the audience
A bank reads a statement differently from a tax office or a court. Say in the order notes who will receive it so the accounting terms fit that reader.
Details and pricing
What is included in a Korean financial statement translation
One price per page covers the translation and its certification. A page is up to 250 words, and the quote tells you the page count before you pay.
Everything on the financial statement is translated, including stamps, seals and handwritten notes. Tell us the English spelling you use for each name when you order.
For an audited set, usually yes. The notes explain related-party transactions, pledged collateral and the basis of the figures, and a bank or an examiner reads them. They are the longest part, often more pages than the statements themselves. If a recipient wants only the primary statements, say so and we translate those; the certification states what was translated.
Can you translate a 감사보고서 for an E-2 or L-1 case?
Yes. The audit opinion, the 회계법인 name and the signing 공인회계사, the report date and any emphasis paragraphs are translated word for word. Korea's treaty with the US makes the E-2 investor visa common for Korean owners, and the consulate or USCIS wants the statements proving the investment and the company's health in English, certified.
Our Korean parent company wants the US statements in Korean. Is that something you do?
Yes. A Korean parent consolidating a US subsidiary, a company filing an 외국인투자 신고 through its foreign exchange bank, a bidder for a Korean public contract and a Korean court in a shareholder dispute all want US GAAP statements in Korean. We translate into Korean and keep the US caption in brackets where there is no exact K-IFRS term.
How much does a certified translation cost?
Certified translation is $25 per page, with a page counted as up to 250 words. Notarization, a mailed physical copy and an apostille are optional and priced separately.
How long does a certified translation take?
Standard turnaround starts at 24 hours and depends on the length and language of your documents. If you have a deadline, include it in your quote request.
