Punjabi affidavit translation for USCIS, a US court or a consulate. An Indian affidavit is a typed statement on e-stamp paper, attested by a notary or an executive magistrate, and in Punjab it is often written in Gurmukhi as a ਹਲਫ਼ੀਆ ਬਿਆਨ. We translate the statement and every stamp around it.
A Punjab affidavit has more on the page than the statement, and a US reader needs each part to judge whether it was properly sworn.
The e-stamp paper
Punjab affidavits are printed on an e-stamp certificate, which shows a certificate number, the purchaser's name, the stamp duty paid and the date bought. The statement begins below it. We translate the e-stamp block as well as the statement, because the certificate number lets someone check the paper online and the purchase date shows when the affidavit was made.
The deponent and the verification
The statement opens with the deponent as son, daughter or wife of a named man, then their age and village, and closes with a ਤਸਦੀਕ, a verification paragraph saying the contents are true. We keep the numbered paragraphs as numbered, translate the verification in full, and give the place and date of verification exactly as written, since these are what makes it an affidavit.
Attestation by notary or magistrate
At the bottom sit the notary's seal with a registration number, or the executive magistrate's stamp, and often an advocate's note identifying the deponent. Each stamp and signature is translated or described in brackets. An officer reading the English can see who swore the statement and who confirmed it.
Who is asking for your Punjabi affidavit translation?
The translation is the same. What changes is whether the recipient wants anything added to it.
USCIS
Affidavits standing in for a missing birth or marriage record are accepted with a complete English translation and a signed certification from the translator. No notarization is needed.
A court admits a translated affidavit with the translator's signed certification, and many ask for it notarized. Add notarization at checkout if the clerk asks for it.
Three things that save a day of back and forth on a Punjabi affidavit.
01
Send the signed and notarized version
An affidavit is the sworn statement plus the notary block, stamp and seal. Upload the executed copy, with every exhibit it refers to, not the draft.
02
Give us the names as the passport spells them
The affiant, the notary and anyone named in the statement keep their names as written, with your English spelling noted, so the recipient can match the affidavit to the rest of the file.
03
Tell us where it is going
A court, USCIS and a foreign registry each want the certification handled differently. Say which in the order notes and we match the format.
Details and pricing
What is included in a Punjabi affidavit translation
One price per page covers the translation and its certification. A page is up to 250 words, and the quote tells you the page count before you pay.
Everything on the affidavit is translated, including stamps, seals and handwritten notes. Tell us the English spelling you use for each name when you order.
Most often it is an affidavit from a parent or an elder stating a relationship or a fact for an I-130, a one and the same person affidavit explaining two spellings of a name, or statements from villagers and the sarpanch for an immigration or court case. We translate each separately, with one certification per document.
Can you translate an English affidavit into Punjabi?
Yes. People ask for this when a relative in Punjab has to sign a US statement and needs to read it first in Gurmukhi, or when a document is going to a court in Punjab that works in Punjabi. We translate from English into Punjabi with the same certification.
My affidavit has English and Punjabi on the same page. What do you translate?
We translate the Punjabi and reproduce the English, so the certified version is a complete English copy of the page. This is common: the stamp paper and the notary seal are often in English while the statement itself is in Gurmukhi, or the reverse.
How much does a certified translation cost?
Certified translation is $25 per page, with a page counted as up to 250 words. Notarization, a mailed physical copy and an apostille are optional and priced separately.
How long does a certified translation take?
Standard turnaround starts at 24 hours and depends on the length and language of your documents. If you have a deadline, include it in your quote request.
