Punjabi transcript translation into certified English for a credential evaluator, a US or Canadian college, or a licensing board. We translate the Punjab School Education Board detailed marks cards and the semester marksheets from Punjabi University, Guru Nanak Dev University and other Punjab universities.
In Punjab a transcript is a stack of marks cards, one for each exam, rather than a single record of every course.
PSEB detailed marks cards
The Punjab School Education Board issues a detailed marks card for the matriculation exam in class 10 and another for senior secondary in class 12. Each lists subjects with theory and practical marks, the total, the result and sometimes a division. Recent cards are bilingual. Older cards, and those from Punjabi-medium schools, can be Gurmukhi throughout, and we translate each subject name as the board wrote it.
Reappear, compartment and golden chance
Punjab universities use their own words for failed and retaken papers: reappear, compartment, improvement, and golden chance for a last attempt years later. They matter to an evaluator, because a passed reappear paper may carry a different date and session from the rest of the year. We translate the term, keep the session such as April 2014 exactly, and leave every mark as printed.
What an evaluator does with it
Evaluators such as WES and ECE convert Indian percentages into a US grade average themselves, so the translation does not attempt it. WES usually wants university marksheets sent straight from the university, and it asks for a translation of any record that is not in English. Many university marksheets are English already; the Punjabi ones tend to be board records and older university papers.
Who is asking for your Punjabi academic transcript translation?
The translation is the same. What changes is whether the recipient wants anything added to it.
Credential evaluators
WES, ECE and similar services ask for a word-for-word certified translation of each page, sent alongside the official transcript.
Admissions offices and school districts accept a certified translation they can read next to the original. A PDF is usually enough; ask for a hard copy if they want one.
Three things that save a day of back and forth on a Punjabi academic transcript.
01
Send the official copy
An evaluator wants the sealed transcript from the registrar, not a self-printed grade list. Order the translation from the same copy the school issues.
02
Include the grading legend
The scale, the pass mark and the credit system are usually printed at the foot or on the back. Send that part too so it is translated with the grades.
03
Expect more than one page per sheet
A transcript sheet holds far more than 250 words. The quote counts words, not sheets, so a two-sheet transcript may price as four or five pages.
Details and pricing
What is included in a Punjabi academic transcript translation
One price per page covers the translation and its certification. A page is up to 250 words, and the quote tells you the page count before you pay.
Everything on the academic transcript is translated, including stamps, seals and handwritten notes. Tell us the English spelling you use for each name when you order.
Only the ones not in English. A degree from a Punjab university can run to six or eight semester marksheets, and often only some are in Punjabi. Upload them all and we count only the pages that need translating, so the English ones cost nothing.
My marksheets are from CBSE. Do they need translating?
Usually not. CBSE marksheets are printed in Hindi and English with every entry in English, and ICSE ones are English only, so neither carries Punjabi. The Gurmukhi turns up in Punjab School Education Board records and in some college papers.
My matric certificate shows my date of birth. Can it stand in for a birth certificate?
In India it often does: the PSEB matriculation certificate records the date of birth and offices accept it as proof. USCIS treats it as secondary evidence, used with a non-availability certificate when no birth record exists. We translate the date exactly as the board wrote it, in figures and in words.
How much does a certified translation cost?
Certified translation is $25 per page, with a page counted as up to 250 words. Notarization, a mailed physical copy and an apostille are optional and priced separately.
How long does a certified translation take?
Standard turnaround starts at 24 hours and depends on the length and language of your documents. If you have a deadline, include it in your quote request.
