Punjabi background check translation for USCIS, an employer, a licensing board or a consulate. An Indian police clearance certificate from Passport Seva is printed in English. The Punjabi papers are the ones issued locally: Saanjh Kendra verifications, sarpanch character certificates and the village records that support them.
A national police clearance answers one question. A US employer, a state licensing board or an immigration lawyer sometimes wants more, and the local papers are in Gurmukhi.
Saanjh Kendra verification
Punjab Police run ਸਾਂਝ ਕੇਂਦਰ community centres at district and sub-division level, and they issue character verification and police clearance certificates. The form is often Punjabi or bilingual, with the application number, the verifying police station and the officer's remarks. We translate the remarks word for word, because a remark that says no record found locally is narrower than a national clearance.
The sarpanch's certificate
A ਸਰਪੰਚ certifies that the person is a resident of the village, of good character and known to the panchayat, on letterhead with a round stamp. These support a waiver application, a character reference for a US court or a licensing board. We translate the letter, the stamp text and the sarpanch's name and village, and note any part written in another hand.
Which document answers which question
The Passport Seva police clearance is the one the US consulate asks for in an immigrant visa case, and it is already English. The Saanjh Kendra verification covers one district, and the sarpanch speaks only for the village. Translated together, they give a fuller picture, but none replaces the one the instructions name.
Who is asking for your Punjabi background check translation?
The translation is the same. What changes is whether the recipient wants anything added to it.
USCIS and the National Visa Center
Green card and visa applications ask for police and court records with a complete English translation and a signed certification. No notarization is needed.
An employer or a professional board checking your record from abroad accepts a certified translation they can read next to the original. Ask whether they want a hard copy.
An FBI or state background check going to another country usually needs an apostille and a translation into that country's language, sometimes notarized.
Three things that save a day of back and forth on a Punjabi background check.
01
Get the check issued first, then order the translation
Most background checks are valid for a few months. Have it issued, then upload it, so the translation and the original are current together.
02
Send the report the checklist names
A police certificate, a court record and an FBI identity history summary are different documents. Read the employer or consulate checklist and send the one it asks for.
03
Keep the verification code in the scan
Online reports carry a QR code or a reference number that the recipient uses to confirm the result. Scan the whole page so it is translated with the rest.
Details and pricing
What is included in a Punjabi background check translation
One price per page covers the translation and its certification. A page is up to 250 words, and the quote tells you the page count before you pay.
Everything on the background check is translated, including stamps, seals and handwritten notes. Tell us the English spelling you use for each name when you order.
Does my Indian police clearance certificate need translating?
Usually not. A PCC from Passport Seva or an Indian consulate in the US is printed in English. If it carries a handwritten Punjabi endorsement or a Gurmukhi stamp, we translate those parts and certify the page. Otherwise file it as it is.
The sarpanch who signed my letter is no longer in office. Is it still good?
The translation gives the name, the date and the stamp as written, and the letter says what it said on that date. A sarpanch serves a five-year term, so older letters often come from a former one. If the recipient wants something recent, ask the current sarpanch for a new letter and we translate that.
Can you translate a US background check into Punjabi?
Yes, for a reader who needs Gurmukhi. Indian authorities generally accept an FBI Identity History Summary in English with an apostille. Families ask for Punjabi when a relative in Punjab needs to understand what the record says, for example before a marriage or a property matter.
How much does a certified translation cost?
Certified translation is $25 per page, with a page counted as up to 250 words. Notarization, a mailed physical copy and an apostille are optional and priced separately.
How long does a certified translation take?
Standard turnaround starts at 24 hours and depends on the length and language of your documents. If you have a deadline, include it in your quote request.
