Punjabi diploma translation into certified English for a credential evaluation, a job, a professional license or a religious worker petition. We translate Punjab School Education Board certificates, degrees from Punjab universities, and the Gurmukhi certificates granthis and ragis bring from Sikh religious colleges.
A diploma from Punjab can be a board certificate, a university degree or a religious qualification, and the Gurmukhi on each says different things.
University degrees
Degree certificates from Punjabi University Patiala and Guru Nanak Dev University are often printed in Punjabi and English, with the name, the degree and the year of the exam. Degree names such as B.A., B.Ed. or M.A. Punjabi are kept as abbreviations and written out once. A provisional certificate issued before the final degree is a different document, and the translation says which one you have.
Giani and the Punjabi honours exams
Older family members may hold a Giani, Vidwan or Budhiman certificate, honours exams in Punjabi language and literature that Punjab universities ran for decades. They have no US equivalent, so we translate the exam name, keep the original in brackets and leave the evaluation to an evaluator. These certificates are often Gurmukhi from top to bottom.
Granthi, ragi and kathavachak certificates
A granthi, ragi or kathavachak coming to a US gurdwara on an R-1 religious worker visa usually shows training from a Sikh missionary college, a Gurmat Vidyala run by the SGPC, or a taksal. Those certificates are in Gurmukhi and name the course, its length and subjects such as kirtan in the classical raags. We translate the religious terms with a short explanation in brackets so the officer can follow them.
Who is asking for your Punjabi diploma translation?
The translation is the same. What changes is whether the recipient wants anything added to it.
Credential evaluators
WES, ECE and similar services ask for a word-for-word certified translation sent with the original. The degree name stays in the original language beside the English.
Physicians trained abroad send their diploma and transcript through ECFMG, which asks for an English translation of every document that is not in English.
Three things that save a day of back and forth on a Punjabi diploma.
01
Scan the back of the diploma
Registration numbers, the ministry stamp and the book and folio entries are often printed on the reverse. Send both sides.
02
Send the companion document
A professional license, a graduation act or a transcript often goes with the diploma. Upload the set so the numbers and dates are translated consistently.
03
Tell us who the translation is for
An evaluator, a licensing board and a university each read the degree name differently. Say in the order notes where it is going.
Details and pricing
What is included in a Punjabi diploma translation
One price per page covers the translation and its certification. A page is up to 250 words, and the quote tells you the page count before you pay.
Everything on the diploma is translated, including stamps, seals and handwritten notes. Tell us the English spelling you use for each name when you order.
Do I translate the matriculation certificate or the marks card?
Usually both. The PSEB certificate shows you passed and when; the detailed marks card shows the subjects and marks. An evaluator or employer generally asks for the pair. If yours are in English already, only the Punjabi ones need us.
My diploma is from a polytechnic or an ITI in Punjab.
Certificates from the Punjab State Board of Technical Education and from Industrial Training Institutes are mostly in English, so they may not need translating. Where a certificate or its marks statement carries Gurmukhi, we translate those pages and keep the trade name as printed.
Does an evaluator need a notarized translation?
Most evaluators accept a certified translation, which every order includes. A few US employers, licensing boards and foreign offices ask for notarization as well. Add it at checkout if the recipient's instructions mention it.
How much does a certified translation cost?
Certified translation is $25 per page, with a page counted as up to 250 words. Notarization, a mailed physical copy and an apostille are optional and priced separately.
How long does a certified translation take?
Standard turnaround starts at 24 hours and depends on the length and language of your documents. If you have a deadline, include it in your quote request.
