Ukrainian tax return translation to English for a visa interview, an E-2 file, an IRS foreign tax credit, a child support case or a US lender. Most Ukrainian employees never file a return, so we also translate the documents that stand in for one: the employer's довідка про доходи and the income record pulled from the tax service.
Who files a tax return in Ukraine, and who does not
A US officer who asks a Ukrainian for last year's tax return often gets a puzzled look. Employees have tax withheld at source and file nothing; it is sole proprietors and people with other income who file.
The ФОП single tax declaration
A sole proprietor on the simplified system files the податкова декларація платника єдиного податку, фізичної особи-підприємця, showing the group (1, 2 or 3), gross receipts by quarter and the tax due. It is filed electronically through the Електронний кабінет платника and signed with a КЕП, so what you hold is a PDF plus the tax service's receipt confirming it was accepted. We translate the declaration and the receipt, because the receipt is what proves the filing.
Employees: ПДФО, the military levy and the довідка
An employer withholds ПДФО, the personal income tax, and the військовий збір, the military levy, and pays them over. The employee's proof of income is a довідка про доходи from the employer's accountant, listing gross pay by month, the tax withheld and the net paid, with the company stamp. We translate the levy by its name and keep the rates as printed. The annual декларація про майновий стан і доходи, due by 1 May, is filed only by people with income the employer did not tax, such as rent or foreign earnings.
The income record from the tax service
The closest thing to an IRS transcript is the відомості про суми виплачених доходів та утриманих податків, an extract from the state register of taxpayers that lists every payer who reported income for you, by quarter, with the income code and the tax withheld. It is downloaded from the Електронний кабінет with your ten-digit РНОКПП. For a US officer it is the most useful single page, and we translate the income codes in a note.
Who is asking for your Ukrainian tax return translation?
The translation is the same. What changes is whether the recipient wants anything added to it.
USCIS and the National Visa Center
Sponsors filing an affidavit of support, and applicants proving income, submit tax returns with a complete English translation and a signed certification. No notarization is needed.
IRCC accepts a certified translation with the translator's affidavit. Order the certified translation and add notarization if your application guide asks for it.
A mortgage lender or a tax office assessing foreign income accepts a certified translation of the return and its schedules. Ask whether they want a hard copy and add it at checkout.
Three things that save a day of back and forth on a Ukrainian tax return.
01
Send the filed return, not the draft
The recipient wants the version the tax office accepted, with its filing stamp, receipt number or online confirmation. Include the confirmation page if your return was filed electronically.
02
Include every schedule and attachment
The income summary on the first page refers to schedules behind it. A consulate or a lender reading the total will look for the pages that support it.
03
Give us the taxpayer name as the passport spells it
Taxpayer numbers, amounts and the currency are copied exactly as printed. Tell us the English spelling of each name on the return so it matches the rest of your file.
Details and pricing
What is included in a Ukrainian tax return translation
One price per page covers the translation and its certification. A page is up to 250 words, and the quote tells you the page count before you pay.
Everything on the tax return is translated, including stamps, seals and handwritten notes. Tell us the English spelling you use for each name when you order.
Does the IRS need a certified translation of my Ukrainian tax documents?
Not with your return. If you claim the foreign tax credit for Ukrainian tax on Form 1116, the IRS can ask for proof of the tax paid, and a foreign-language document sent to the IRS has to come with an English translation. People order the translation of the declaration, the довідка про доходи and the payment receipts once, and keep it with that year's file.
My US tax return needs to go to Ukraine. Can you translate it into Ukrainian?
Yes. A Ukrainian tax resident with US income claims credit for the US tax under the Ukraine-US tax convention, and the ДПС wants an official statement of tax paid, apostilled, with a Ukrainian translation. Courts in Ukraine ask for the same in alimony cases. We translate Form 1040, the IRS account transcript and the W-2 into Ukrainian.
How do I prove I was registered as a ФОП at all?
With an extract. The витяг з реєстру платників єдиного податку shows your single tax group and the date you joined it, and a витяг from the ЄДР, the state business register, shows when the ФОП was registered and its КВЕД activity codes. A US officer reading a declaration often asks for one of them. Both download from the online cabinets as PDFs, and we translate them with the declarations.
How much does a certified translation cost?
Certified translation is $25 per page, with a page counted as up to 250 words. Notarization, a mailed physical copy and an apostille are optional and priced separately.
How long does a certified translation take?
Standard turnaround starts at 24 hours and depends on the length and language of your documents. If you have a deadline, include it in your quote request.
