Haitian diploma translation to English for a US university, an employer, a credential evaluator, a state nursing board, ECFMG or an I-140. We translate the baccalauréat diploma issued by the MENFP, the diplôme de licence from the Université d'État d'Haïti and the private universities, and professional diplomas from nursing, medical and teacher training schools, all written in French.
Which Haitian diploma you hold depends on the year you finished
Haiti changed how it runs the secondary exam, and an evaluator counts your papers against the year printed on the diploma.
Two bac diplomas before 2016
Anyone who finished secondary school before 2016 sat the baccalauréat in two parts, the première partie after the classe de Rhétorique and the deuxième partie after Philosophie, and holds two diplomas. The second is the one that proves completion, but evaluators ask for both because the first carries its own subjects and session. Each is a one-page certificate from the ministry with the candidate's name, the session, a diploma number and a légalisation stamp. We translate both as separate documents so the evaluator can file them as two credentials.
The bac unique and the diplôme de fin d'études secondaires
Later students sat a single bac unique at the end of secondary school and hold one diploma, which evaluators may record as the diplôme de fin d'études secondaires. Students who finished during the changeover may hold only a second-part diploma, and that is the one evaluators look for in those years. The ministry prints diplomas well after it releases results, so a recent graduate often applies with the relevé and a ministry attestation, and we translate the diploma when it finally arrives.
Licence, attestation and professional diplomas
A licence from the Université d'État d'Haïti takes four years and a mémoire, and the diploma itself can take years more to print, so many graduates hold an attestation de fin d'études or attestation de réussite from the faculty instead. Evaluators treat the licence as four or more years of study after the bac. The Faculté de Médecine et de Pharmacie issues its doctorat en médecine after a year of service social, and ECFMG wants that diploma translated with its date. Nursing diplomas from the École Nationale des Infirmières go to state boards through the same route.
Who is asking for your Haitian Creole diploma translation?
The translation is the same. What changes is whether the recipient wants anything added to it.
Credential evaluators
WES, ECE and similar services ask for a word-for-word certified translation sent with the original. The degree name stays in the original language beside the English.
Physicians trained abroad send their diploma and transcript through ECFMG, which asks for an English translation of every document that is not in English.
Three things that save a day of back and forth on a Haitian Creole diploma.
01
Scan the back of the diploma
Registration numbers, the ministry stamp and the book and folio entries are often printed on the reverse. Send both sides.
02
Send the companion document
A professional license, a graduation act or a transcript often goes with the diploma. Upload the set so the numbers and dates are translated consistently.
03
Tell us who the translation is for
An evaluator, a licensing board and a university each read the degree name differently. Say in the order notes where it is going.
Details and pricing
What is included in a Haitian Creole diploma translation
One price per page covers the translation and its certification. A page is up to 250 words, and the quote tells you the page count before you pay.
Everything on the diploma is translated, including stamps, seals and handwritten notes. Tell us the English spelling you use for each name when you order.
I finished Philo in 2014 but can only find my Rhéto diploma. Can you translate just that?
Yes, and the translation says plainly that it is the first-part diploma, so no one mistakes it for proof of completion. Meanwhile a relative can request a duplicate of the second-part diploma or an attestation from the ministry's exam office in Port-au-Prince, and we translate that as a separate one-page document when it arrives.
My university never printed my diploma, only an attestation. Will a US employer accept it?
Many do, and evaluators are used to it from Haiti. The attestation names the faculty, the programme, the year of completion and sometimes the mémoire title, and it is signed by the dean. We translate it with every stamp and the signatory's title. If the diploma is printed later, its translation matches the attestation's wording so the two read as one record.
I trained as a nurse in Haiti. What does a US nursing board want translated?
Most boards, Florida's included, have foreign nursing education evaluated by an approved agency such as CGFNS. The agency often asks the school in Haiti to send the transcript directly, and asks you for the diploma and certified translations of anything in French. Check the agency's list for Haiti before you order, then send the set together.
How much does a certified translation cost?
Certified translation is $25 per page, with a page counted as up to 250 words. Notarization, a mailed physical copy and an apostille are optional and priced separately.
How long does a certified translation take?
Standard turnaround starts at 24 hours and depends on the length and language of your documents. If you have a deadline, include it in your quote request.
