Punjabi bank statement translation for a US visa, an I-20 funding check, a source of funds review or a USCIS case. Statements from State Bank of India or Punjab National Bank are printed in English. The Gurmukhi is in rural passbooks, cooperative society ledgers and the branch letters that explain them.
Before you order, look at the pages. A computer-printed statement in English needs no translation; a passbook with handwritten Gurmukhi entries does.
Cooperative society passbooks
Farm families often bank through the village ਸਹਿਕਾਰੀ ਸਭਾ, the cooperative society that gives crop loans against the harvest. Its passbooks are frequently handwritten in Punjabi: ਜਮ੍ਹਾਂ for a deposit, ਨਕਦ for cash, a loan drawn in spring and repaid after the wheat is sold. We translate each line and keep the running balance in its own column, so the loan cycle is visible to a consular officer.
Lakh and crore
Indian amounts are grouped as 12,34,567, which is twelve lakh, thirty-four thousand and so on, and a US reader can misread it by a factor of ten. We keep each figure exactly as printed, add the amount in words where the original writes it in words, and state at the top that the currency is Indian rupees. We do not convert to dollars.
Branch letters and balance certificates
Rural branches in Punjab sometimes issue a balance certificate or an account history on letterhead with the body typed in Punjabi, or add a Gurmukhi note explaining a large deposit from a land sale. These are the pages a source of funds review stops on. We translate the whole letter, the manager's designation and the branch seal.
Who is asking for your Punjabi bank statement translation?
The translation is the same. What changes is whether the recipient wants anything added to it.
USCIS and the National Visa Center
Affidavit of support and consular processing cases take bank statements with a complete English translation and a signed certification. No notarization is needed.
UKVI asks for a certified translation of any document not in English, with the translator's details and the date on it. Statements for the maintenance requirement are the usual request.
A mortgage lender or a landlord checking income accepts a certified translation of your statements. Digital delivery as a PDF is usually enough; ask for a hard copy if they want one.
Three things that save a day of back and forth on a Punjabi bank statement.
01
Download the statement rather than photographing it
A PDF from online banking is sharper than a photo and keeps every figure legible. If you only have paper, scan each page flat with the header and the closing balance in frame.
02
Send a complete period
A consulate or a lender names the months it wants. Send every page of each month, including pages with no transactions, so the running balance reads without gaps.
03
Tell us whose account it is
Give us the account holder's name as the passport spells it. Account numbers, amounts and the currency are copied exactly as printed; the headings and descriptions are translated.
Details and pricing
What is included in a Punjabi bank statement translation
One price per page covers the translation and its certification. A page is up to 250 words, and the quote tells you the page count before you pay.
Everything on the bank statement is translated, including stamps, seals and handwritten notes. Tell us the English spelling you use for each name when you order.
My SBI statement is in English. Why would I need a translation?
You probably don't. An English statement from SBI, PNB, HDFC or Punjab & Sind Bank can be filed as it is. Translation matters for the Punjabi pages in the same file: a passbook, a stamped branch note or a cooperative ledger. We quote per page, so you pay only for those.
Do you translate post office passbooks?
Yes. Many families in Punjab keep savings or recurring deposits with India Post. The passbook headings are Hindi and English, and older books have entries and remarks written by hand, sometimes in Gurmukhi. We translate the Hindi headings and the handwritten entries along with the stamp of the post office.
Do you translate handwritten passbook entries?
Yes. Upload clear photos of every page with entries, including the first page with the account holder's name and the society or branch stamp. If an entry has faded past reading, the translation says so at that line. We never fill in a missing figure.
How much does a certified translation cost?
Certified translation is $25 per page, with a page counted as up to 250 words. Notarization, a mailed physical copy and an apostille are optional and priced separately.
How long does a certified translation take?
Standard turnaround starts at 24 hours and depends on the length and language of your documents. If you have a deadline, include it in your quote request.
