Tagalog diploma translation is mainly for DepEd diplomas. Philippine schools issue elementary, junior high and senior high diplomas in Filipino, while college diplomas are usually English. We translate the Filipino text, the school seals and the signatures for a US school, employer or credential evaluator.
A DepEd diploma is a single page of formal Filipino under the Republic and department headings, naming the learner, the school and the level completed.
The wording
The text opens with Republika ng Pilipinas and Kagawaran ng Edukasyon, then states that the learner has satisfactorily completed the course of study for that level, with the school, the schools division and the date. We translate it as a formal certificate, with Kagawaran ng Edukasyon in brackets after Department of Education so the reader can match the heading.
Grade 10 or Grade 12
Since K to 12, a learner receives a junior high diploma after Grade 10 and a senior high diploma after Grade 12, which names the track and strand, such as the Academic Track with a STEM strand. A US employer or college asking for proof of high school completion needs the Grade 12 diploma. The translation states the level exactly as the original does, with no rounding up.
Honors and signatories
Honors such as with high honors are usually printed in English, but the signatories' titles are in Filipino: the Punong-guro, or principal, and the Tagapamanihala ng mga Paaralang Sangay, the schools division superintendent. Each title is translated, each signature is marked as signed, and the dry seal is noted where it falls on the page.
Who is asking for your Tagalog diploma translation?
The translation is the same. What changes is whether the recipient wants anything added to it.
Credential evaluators
WES, ECE and similar services ask for a word-for-word certified translation sent with the original. The degree name stays in the original language beside the English.
Physicians trained abroad send their diploma and transcript through ECFMG, which asks for an English translation of every document that is not in English.
Three things that save a day of back and forth on a Tagalog diploma.
01
Scan the back of the diploma
Registration numbers, the ministry stamp and the book and folio entries are often printed on the reverse. Send both sides.
02
Send the companion document
A professional license, a graduation act or a transcript often goes with the diploma. Upload the set so the numbers and dates are translated consistently.
03
Tell us who the translation is for
An evaluator, a licensing board and a university each read the degree name differently. Say in the order notes where it is going.
Details and pricing
What is included in a Tagalog diploma translation
One price per page covers the translation and its certification. A page is up to 250 words, and the quote tells you the page count before you pay.
Everything on the diploma is translated, including stamps, seals and handwritten notes. Tell us the English spelling you use for each name when you order.
Rarely. Most Philippine colleges and universities issue diplomas in English, and USCIS or an evaluator reads them as they are. If yours has Filipino text on it, such as a motto or a line under the seal, we translate that part and reproduce the rest.
Does an evaluator want the diploma or the transcript?
Usually both, and for a Philippine degree the TOR carries more weight because it lists every subject and grade. The diploma confirms the degree was conferred. If the DepEd diploma is in Filipino and the high school record is English, only the diploma needs translating.
Do I need an apostille on a DepEd diploma?
Some US recipients ask for one. The DFA apostilles a DepEd diploma only after DepEd issues its Certification, Authentication and Verification, the CAV, so request that first. The CAV and the apostille are both in English. Our certified translation covers the diploma itself, with notarization as an add-on.
How much does a certified translation cost?
Certified translation is $25 per page, with a page counted as up to 250 words. Notarization, a mailed physical copy and an apostille are optional and priced separately.
How long does a certified translation take?
Standard turnaround starts at 24 hours and depends on the length and language of your documents. If you have a deadline, include it in your quote request.
